About MandirMaps
MandirMaps is a map and directory of Hindu mandirs. It also lists gurdwaras (Guru Ghar), Jain temples and Buddhist temples, each under its own name and its own pin, and the great teerth yatras of India. You can search by city or name, open a place's page, and find its location, website and directions.
How we handle information
- Every fact on a temple page names its source and the date we checked it.
- We never guess. If we do not know a phone number, timing or deity, the field stays empty.
- Opening hours, aarti times and deities appear only when the temple itself has given them to us.
- Once a temple claims its page, the temple's own information takes priority.
Where the data comes from
- OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database Licence (ODbL).
- Overture Maps Foundation places data (CDLA-Permissive-2.0).
- The official centre lists published by BAPS and ISKCON, and each temple's own website.
- The Canada Revenue Agency list of charities (Open Government Licence, Canada), for registered charity numbers.
- Wikidata (CC0), also used for the location of teerth temples.
- GeoNames (CC BY 4.0), for the town and region nearest to a temple's coordinates.
- The temples themselves, through the claim and correction forms.
Teerth
We do not decide which temple is holy. A temple carries the gold teerth pin only when a named traditional circuit includes it, and each yatra page says where its list comes from.
For temples
Listing is free. To correct or complete your temple's page, open the page and choose "Claim this temple". We verify claims through the email address shown on the temple's official website.
